I want to renew my DL/ID/CDL online. How do I know if I’m eligible?
DPS determines your eligibility for online services, including renewal. To understand if you’re eligible, please carefully review the eligibility guidelines on the Understand Eligibility Requirements for Online Driver License Services page.
How can I renew or replace my DL/ID/CDL online if I’m eligible?
If you’re eligible to renew or replace your DL/ID or CDL online, you can use Texas by Texas (TxT), the state's official digital assistant. With TxT, you can create a secure account, link your current Texas DL or ID, and complete services including renewal, replacement, and address change. To learn more about TxT and create an account, visit the Texas by Texas page on Texas.gov.
I’m ineligible to renew my DL/ID online. Now what?
If you received a message stating that you’re not eligible to renew online, you need to renew your DL or ID in person at your local DPS office. Please visit the In-Person at your local driver license office section of the DPS website for information on how to schedule an appointment at your local DPS office using the DPS Appointment Scheduler.
Please note: The Texas.gov Help Desk doesn’t provide support for the DPS Appointment Scheduler application. If you need help or have questions about the DPS Appointment Scheduler, please contact DPS directly by calling (512) 424-2600 or emailing TXScheduler@dps.texas.gov.
How do I replace my lost or stolen DL/ID?
If you know your DL/ID information, including your Audit/DD number, you may be able to replace your card online with Texas by Texas (TxT). Visit the TxT page to learn more and create your account. If you don't have this information, please review the DPS website for instructions on how to replace your lost or stolen DL/ID.
How can I track the status of my DL/ID?
You can track the status of your DL/ID with the Where is my license or ID status tool on the DPS website.
If it’s been more than three weeks and you’re unable to determine your DL/ID status, please contact DPS at (512) 424-2600 or complete the DPS Customer Service Center contact form.
