State parks
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) manages more than 80 state parks, natural areas, and historic sites open to the public. The park's map and official guide are the best places to start planning a visit.
Texas State Park passes
A Texas State Parks Pass gives you a year of unlimited day entry to state parks, plus discounts on camping, store items, and rentals. Some Texans qualify for free or reduced entry through Parklands Passports, and youth groups can apply for a separate annual pass. Passes can be bought online, by phone, or at a park entrance. Camping, activities, and rentals are still charged separately.
Going camping?
Campsites at Texas state parks fill up fast, especially on weekends and holidays. Reservations open up to 90 days in advance. Some sites are walk-in only — check the individual park page before you plan your trip.
Activities, programs, and events for every age
Texas state parks offer guided programs, junior ranger activities, photography workshops, stargazing nights, and more.
Take a look at the TPWD kids page, which features resources to engage children with Texas nature and wildlife.

Volunteer
