The Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office (TREO) reviews state agency rules to reduce regulatory burdens and unnecessary rules and increase transparency for Texas taxpayers. Housed within the Office of the Governor and established on September 1, 2025, by Senate Bill 14 (89th Texas Legislature), TREO will guide state agencies in identifying opportunities to simplify Texas’ regulatory framework and create best practices to make agencies’ rulemaking processes more efficient. TREO works with an advisory panel of experts and stakeholders to solicit input from Texans and members of the regulated community.
